Birthday Wishes Crown
Necessary Supplies: G crochet hook, Medium weight yarn, Scissors, Yarn needle
Gauge: 16 dc approximately 4″ wide, each row is approximately 0.5″ high
Yarn Used: Vanna’s Choice Lion Brand – Mustard
Size: Toddler (approximately 17.5″ in inner circumference):
Rnd 1: Note – When beginning the pattern, leave a tail that is approximately 6″ long. You can then use the tail to sew the bottom loops of the last foundation single crochet to the bottom loops of the first foundation single crochet to completely join the row. (This will be completed at the very end.)
Complete 70 foundation single crochets. Slip stitch with the 1st foundation single crochet to join.
Rnd 2: Ch 2. Complete 1 dc/st. Sl st with 1st dc. (70)
Rnd 3: Ch 2. Complete 1 hdc/st. Sl st with 1st hdc. (70)
Rnd 4: Ch 2. Complete 1 dc/st. Sl st with 1st dc. (70)
Rnd 5: Ch 2. Complete 1 hdc/st. Sl st with 1st hdc. (70)
Rnd 6: Ch 1. *Complete 1 sc in the 1st st and skip the 2nd st. Complete the following in the 3rd st: 2 dc, 1 tr, and 2 dc. Skip the 4th st and complete 1 sc in the 5th st.* Repeat the pattern enclosed in the * * until the end. Sl st with the 1st sc. (14 peaks)
Rnd 7: Ch 1. *Complete 1 sc/st in each of the 1st -3rd st. Complete the following in the 4th st (tr st from rnd 6): 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc. Complete 1 sc/st in each of the 5th – 7th st.* Repeat the pattern enclosed in the * * until the end. Sl st with the 1st sc. Knot to end.
Thread the yarn needle on to the tail end created in Step 1. To close the small gap at the bottom of the crown, thread the yarn needle through the bottom loops of the last foundation single crochet. Pull tight, closing the gap between the first and last foundation single crochet. Knot to end. Trim all loose strands, weaving them in the inside of the crown.
